Abstract |
At present, nuclear resonant inelastic scattering has become an established method and has been applied for many scientific fields, such as physics, geophysics, biological science, chemistry, nano-materials. In fact, many exciting results have been obtained and published. These achievements are thanks to the past remarkable developments on the instrumentation. Moreover, the nuclear resonant scattering method is still developing and is thought to have great potentials. In Japan, a project research (CREST project of JST) titled “Studies on Nuclear Resonant Scattering Methods for Materials Science” is now proceeding. Furthermore, first dynamical computations, which are carried out extensively, are important for the understanding of the results. Therefore, the review and discussion on the experimental status, instrumentation and computations are important for further growth of this method, and now is an excellent time. In this Workshop, we will have talks of recent highlights in the various fields with ample time for discussions. Furthermore, we address the needs of instrumentation and computation for future studies, and the strength of the technique compared to complementary methods. So far, workshops on nuclear resonant inelastic scattering have been held at APS and ESRF and were significant opportunity for the progress of this research area. We believe this workshop will be a chance for further developments. |
