Title: X-ray Scattering Physics at Diamond and Beyond
Abstract:
This seminar will give a brief introduction to current and future capabilities of Diamond Light Source (UK), before highlighting Beamline I16 (Materials & Magnetism)[1]. We outline a study of the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction in a series of weak ferromagnetic carbonates[2,3] where interference with well-characterized 'reference' waves has allowed direct observation of scattering phases - essential for modelling magnetism in these materials.
The final part of the talk will introduce the concept of antisymmetric Compton scattering and its potential to investigate magnetoelectric material properties[4] - the basis of our SPring-8 experiment proposal.
