Research Group: Study on electronic states of materials including atoms or molecules using High energy X-ray Homepage: http://elec11.kuicr.kyoto-u.ac.jp/spruc/index.html
Overview of Research Group, Goals and Purposes: We will carry out research on precise x-ray emission spectroscopy using high resolution double crystal x-ray spectrometer, which is set on the beam line BL14B of SPring-8. The x-rays produced in the atomic process of inner shell electron excitation and/or ionization, are composed of many satellite x-ray lines as well as characteristic x-rays. The energy and spectral profile of the characteristic x-rays are changeable depending on chemical states of the x-ray emitter atoms. The satellite x-rays are induced in the decay process of multiply excited and/or ionized states. As the generation process of the hollow atom with double 1s electron vacancy, shake process and Coster-Kronig transition has been investigated so far, and will be extended. For this kind of investigation we need very high intensity x-ray, and, with advent of the third generation light source like SPring-8, we become to execute the experiment. In future, use of SACLA is quite promising, because time structure of the atomic process, that is, inner shell electron excitation and decay processes, must be studied with high intensity pulsed photon beam. An international collaboration research project of FP initiative, named gFundamental Parameter (FP) determination for improved XRF analysis and methodology development for reduced FP uncertaintyh is to start on April 1, 2012. As one of the organizers, Chemical laboratory, Kyoto Univ. (Prof Y. Ito) is nominated together with Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (Germany), Univ. of Fribourg (Switzerland),@CEA-LNE/LNHB (France). Data evaluation and compilation in x-ray spectroscopy including new data acquisition with advanced experimental facility will be carried out. SPring-8 is one of the best light source facility in the world for this program. Participation of our research group using SPring-8 is requested. |
