Title: Advancements in Detector Technologies and Data Pipelines for Synchrotron Experiments
Abstract:
As synchrotron sources continue to evolve, new challenges arise in managing the intense beams in modern experiments. In particular, detecting X-rays across a wide energy spectrum and processing the vast volumes of experimental data remain difficult.
This presentation will explore how state-of-the-art hybrid photon counting detectors, such as EIGER2, PILATUS4, and SELUN, along with well-designed data pipelines, are unlocking new scientific discoveries. We will highlight advancements in detector technology that enable faster image acquisition, innovative pixel data compression techniques, and expanded energy capabilities. Additionally, we will demonstrate how DECTRIS CLOUD facilitates global collaboration by offering fully managed compute infrastructure with open data and software environments for seamless interaction between facilities and researchers.
The talk will feature experimental data from leading 3rd and 4th generation synchrotron facilities, including DLS (UK), ALBA (Spain), SLS (Switzerland), and MaxIV (Sweden), showcasing use cases in ptychography, macromolecular crystallography, serial crystallography, and tensor tomography.
